Growing Peas

Last week, KS2 children received a packet of pea seeds to take home and grow. We would like to know how you’re getting on so leave a comment describing what you can see happening as your pea seeds grow into lovely, yummy peas!

Get ready for the next YMCA textiles collection…

We are hoping to be able to set a date soon for the next soft textiles collection for the charity, YMCA.

Please start thinking about any clothes or other soft textiles you think would be suitable for the next collection and keep these to one side until your child/children bring home a bag for your unwanted goods.

Apart from helping those in need, we are able to raise money for the school at the same time! So far, our collections have raised over £400. Well done everyone!

Second Walking Bus for Brookburn?

In an effort to ease congestion and promote healthy lifestyles, we would like to set up a second walking bus. The walking bus can help to improve your child’s/children’s safety on the school journey. Walking to school is an ideal way to increase the amount of exercise your child/ren gets, as well as helping them develop essential pedestrian skills for later in life.

Children will walk to school as a group, using the agreed route, under the supervision of at least two responsible adults: a ‘driver’ and a ‘conductor’. There will be set places along the way where children can join the ‘bus’.

The proposed new route new route is between the Chandos Road South/Egerton Road South area, towards Brookburn Primary via the Corkland Road/Sandy Lane area before crossing over to Beech Road Park area and on to school.

If you are interested in helping with this walking bus, or you think you would take part in this new route, please let the school know by Friday 1st June at the latest. This will make it possible to find out if there is enough interest and we can create a walking bus register.
